About AutoInsuranceCalc

Independent car-insurance research, sourced to the states and built to be checked.

Independent Research

Our data comes from public sources and industry surveys โ€” not from companies looking to sell you something.

๐Ÿ“Š

Real Numbers

We build estimates from actual rate data and published sources, updated regularly as conditions change.

๐Ÿ“Œ

Sourced & Transparent

Every state's rules link to its insurance department, rate figures are labeled estimates, and we're upfront about how the site is funded. See how we research this.

Our Mission

AutoInsuranceCalc.com helps drivers estimate what they should be paying for car insurance before they ever call an agent or fill out a quote form. Our goal is simple: give people realistic numbers so they know whether they're getting a fair deal.

How We Research

Our state pages pull each state's requirements โ€” minimum liability limits, no-fault vs. at-fault rules, PIP and uninsured-motorist mandates, and which rating factors insurers may use โ€” from the state insurance department and the statute, and every page links to that agency so you can verify. Average premiums are shown as labeled estimate ranges, never as a single guaranteed figure, because what you pay depends on your ZIP code, car, record, and carrier. When we can't confirm a number, we explain the rule and point you to the official source instead of guessing. The full method is on our How We Research This page.

How the Site Is Funded

AutoInsuranceCalc is free to use and supported two ways: advertising (labeled as ads), and quote requests. If you ask to compare quotes, we may connect you with licensed insurance agents or a partner and may be paid for that referral โ€” at no cost to you, and with no obligation to buy. We're not an insurance company, we don't underwrite policies, and those relationships don't change the coverage rules or rate descriptions on our pages.

Who Runs This

AutoInsuranceCalc.com is built and edited by Brad Burton, the site's founder, who researches each state's auto-insurance rules and updates these pages as requirements and the market change. We're not insurance agents, and we say so plainly โ€” the aim is to make official information easier to understand and to point you to the right professionals when you need them.
